Solo exhibition vernissage on October 15th at 18:00 in the Bocca Bookshop (the oldest in Italy – 1775) in the very center of Milan.
From October 15th until November 11th, the Bocca Bookshop is pleased to host Levitazione (Levitation), Elisa Filomena’s solo exhibition, curated by Vera Agosti.
During the last years, the artist has inquired on women’s condition and nature’s mysteries, closely connected with human life: symbols and signs to explore for an alchemical interpretation of the universe and the artist’s inner world.
The exhibition is made up of about 20 works, both paintings and drawings. The new research begins from the lectures on Theosophy and spiritism, not to mention the esoteric pictures of the late 1800s and the beginning of the 1900s. From these, Elisa goes on elaborating on her own, thanks also to the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and Lewis Carroll’s images. It deals with women from the past, mostly engaged with esoteric activities, i.e. levitation, the reason for the exhibition’s name.
